We Live!! Sort of.

Posted: September 5, 2015 by thesvuunderground in Tapestry of Life

Hello everyone and welcome to the mad house! It’s a new year and a time full of new beginnings. Please bear with us (the fates) as we are new to managing this without our dear former Clotho. So updates may be sporadic and somewhat hectic, but we do in fact exist! There will be an impromptu meeting this Saturday, September 5 at 2:00 pm in Durham 201 in conjunction with the Doctor Who Club meeting. Our first official meeting of the semester will be September 8th at 4:00 pm also (hopefully) in Durham 201. Please spread the word about the club and as new information arises we will try to get it out as quickly as is possible. In theory once we get everything going again it will all make sense. Something new this year will be the addition of a Facebook page to try and make things easier for existing and new members. Here is the link (please let me know if it works)

More things will be posted as information becomes available.

Helloooo! It is March 24, and tonight there’s going to be a special impromptu meeting in Jonzzey’s at 8 for brainstorming! Bring your ideas, problems, hopes, blocks, and we’ll try and hash some things together. Simply because we have not been super organized this semester and we want to do something! Tell your friends, bring them along, and get storming.

Also! Tomorrow March 25, at 4 PM in Durham, we will be having an official meeting! The word is difficult to get out around campus, though, so it is getting a very close announcement here.

Please go forth and come hither with ideas, words, and fire! (but not actual fire because that’s prohibited on campus. We’d like to stay running, thanks~)

Hello! Welcome to a new semester, and a new group of fantastic writers to come together, consisting of both old and new faces. Come and greet these faces, old and new, this coming Wednesday, Feb. 4th! We’ll be meeting at 4 PM in Durham 201. We will learn once more who is interested in what, so we can better coordinate further times for meetings.

Also! We’re going to talk about the Poetry Blitz going on for The Review, SVU’s literary magazine, and possibly even working on something for that!

Whether or not poetry is your thing, though, please spread the word, and come at 4 on Wednesday! That way we can be sure to have lots more amazing meetings this semester~

A Brainstorm is Coming

November, as you may or may not know, is NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month. Try to write 50,000 words in a month. GO.

Some may be tackling this, some not, but undoubtedly we are all working on something or other. So this Saturday the 15th, at 2:30 in Durham 201, we shall have a meeting to gather together and brainstorm! Helping one another out with plot points, obstinate characters, and any other development you may wish for some input on. Shorts, novels, poetry, bring ’em all! We are going to gather for the benefit of all.

We will have a time limit for each person, so that everyone can get some help, but if everyone goes and there’s still time afterwards then we can return to things that we feel need more attention. So be prepared to share a short summary and/or pinpoint the problem you want addressed, so we can spend as much time as possible helping one another out.

This time limit will likely be from 10-15 minutes a person, but again, we can always come back to things after everyone’s had the opportunity to get help.

Remember, 2:30 on Saturday! Come with questions so we can all work on some answers.

The Review!

The Review is SVU’s literary magazine. Students can submit prose, poetry, lyrics, artwork, photographs, and short fiction! You’ve probably been seeing at least a few posters around campus about it. There are prizes for first and second place in each section: $100 and $50.

So! You should submit things, because not only do you have an opportunity to earn cash, but there’s the very real possibility of publication!

Forms are outside of Durham 309, and the deadline is today at 5 PM! So get out there and submit!
